Central and Eastern Oregon
The wild landscape of Central and Eastern Oregon runs deep with history and diversity.
To the north, the mighty Columbia River meanders her way through 4,000 ft canyons. In 1986 it was signed into law as a National Scenic Area. In the central part of the state, lies the high desert and scenic Three Sisters Wilderness, Ochoco and Deschutes Mountains. To the south are the Steens Mountains. They too, have stunning carved gorges, wild rivers and are home to an abundance of wildlife. It is some of the most rugged and remote land still left in Oregon. My adrenaline continues to be fueled by adventure and exploring new places of historical significance that shaped the landscape. This gallery takes me back into our forgotten past of what we did, or didn't do to build our future.

There is a fine line between ranchers and government conservation of how land management should be utilized on the Zumwalt Prairie. New regulations have been recently introduced which allows some public land to serve as a testing ground for compatible grazing.
The research is beginning to reveal how conservation and production can prosper without destroying the natural habitat of the land.

on October 14, 2021I am so enjoying visiting your Oregon gallery, it has some of the BEST captures of that beautiful area. I'm glad that the research is revealing that there can be a happy partnership between the two while keeping the land healthy. This is a wonderful image that draws my eye all the way to the hill on the horizon. Love the little old building by the fence too. Excellent work!

on October 14, 2021I love this b/w comp; the texture of the gravel in the road provides a great contrast with the lines of fence posts receding in the distance and small building next to the road!
