Yellowstone is a geological wonder that has fascinated mankind for over 5,000 years. In 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park, this land mass covers an area of 3,468 square miles that border Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. My nephew and I camped here for three days, visiting several geysers, hot springs, and viewing the spectacular wildlife that thrive in the Lamar and Hayden Valleys.

~ Descending Terraces ~
Spring cooled water flows over these small terraces at the Grand Prismatic Spring. The layered colors derive from the combination of organic pigments and carotenoids that multiply around the outside perimeter during the summer months, these pigments change to chlorophyll during the winter months, making the colors turn to dark green.
