~ Flavel House ~
This 11,600 square-foot Queen Anne mansion was built for Captain George Flavel and his wife Mary in 1855. Mr. Flavel was a river bar pilot who escorted ships through the treacherous waters at the entrance of the Columbia River. The house has 6 fireplaces, 14 ft ceilings, an entrance hall, and a 3-story observation tower. It was almost torn down twice for a parking lot, but in 1933 it was donated by the family to the Clatsop County Historical Society.

on January 9, 2022WOW!!! What a stunning old home with such marvelous architecture. I love your PoV and this fabulous nighttime shot with the shadows is a 10 star shot for me. I'd love to see the inside of this fabulous home, but I certainly wouldn't want to keep 11,000+ square feet squeaky clean. :-)
