Mt. Rainier is the 5th highest mountain in the lower 48. It’s considered to be the most difficult endurance climb in the continental United States (not including some mountains in Alaska). Every year, 10,000 people attempt the 14,411 ft summit - about 50% reach the top. It attracts mountaineers from all over the world, the oldest person being 82, and the youngest at age 4, both summited and both are from Washington State.
